What can I say about Senpai wa Kanojo janai, or “Senpai’s not a girl”?
Well, I can resume the manga in three words. Fun. Cute. Lewd.
Notice that I didn’t use a comma. And that’s because the manga is actually a compilation of redrawn doujinshis.
In the manga, we have three different couples. The first one is a senpai and a kouhai couple. The second are childhood friends. And the third one is the president and the vice president of the student council. Those three couples are from the same school and have a connection.
Unlike Rojiura no Souvenir, this manga has almost no development, and I can’t blame the author since it’s a compilation of doujinshis. But that doesn’t make it any less fun.
The first couple, and by far the best, is Komachi-senpai (yes, the senpai in the title) and Sakura. Why are they the best? It’s because Komachi-senpai is a troll trap. He’s cute as fug, likes to tease his boyfriend, and is carefree. It’s been a long while since I’ve seen a trap like this. From memory, I think Kaguya (Himegoto), Kogure (Himitsu no Akuma-chan), and Amachin (Amachin ha Jijou) had similar vibes.
Komachi-senpai reminds me these three. A little
Just so you get an idea, the manga starts with a girl confessing to Sakura. He refuses, saying he already likes someone. Then out of nowhere, Komachi shoes up and the girl runs away saying she can’t compete with someone so cute. Senpai was actually following his boyfriend for over 10 minutes just to find a chance to surprise him. Then they kiss and Komachi says he got hard (Amachin approves).

Next scene, a teacher is complaining because they’re late to school. Komachi says it was because they ended up going to the bathroom. The teacher asks if he’s sick or something.
What does out lovely troll trap say?
“It’s the opposite. We were so “good” once wasn’t enough.”
The teacher doesn’t get it (they had sex more than once, in case you didn’t either. My wording might be weird) but Sakura is too embarrasses and covers his mouth.
We’re a few pages in and Senpai was a troll twice already.
Later, a friend invites Sakura to a group date. When he’s talking to his boyfriend, Komachi-senpai tells him to go.
Sakura gets upset. And starts thinking he’s not special to Komachi, that he doesn’t care about him.
When he confronts his senpai/boyfriend, Komachi tells him he said that because he wanted to see Sakura’s struggling face.

After talking, they make up and have sex (it doesn’t show).
The first time I read “Senpai is not a girl” I missed a joke in the last panel. Komachi says what would the girl who confessed to Sakura think if she found out Sakura was “of the girlfriend side”.
You got the “joke” right?
Our troll cute trap who looks like an angel but has the personality of a devil is the top. A josou seme.
On their second chapter, is the “bikini chapter” but since senpai has a trauma of changing into a swimsuit in the guy’s locker-room, they use Komachi’s bathtub. And they do it (it doesn’t show) and get a summer fever for staying in the water for too long. Cute and idiot couple

On their third chapter, which was actually written for this manga, and not a redrawn doujinshi, we have a little development. The chapter starts with Sakura on all fours and Komachi on top of him, pounding relentlessly. It’s not too graphic, in case you’re wondering, but compared to their previous chapters, it’s like I’m watching Ishuzoku Reviewers.
As they’re catching their breaths, Komachi notices Sakura is holding back on something. While Senpai is talking to his friend, he realizes something; Sakura is a “Virgin” and might want to be on top, but can’t say.
Side note: I get it, but c’mon. Just because Sakura hasn’t dipped his dick on someone, he’s a “virgin”.
Komachi-senpai says that the guys he went out before always wanted to treat him like a woman, that he should just stay there and no do anything. He didn’t want that, and Sakura was one of the first who accepted him for who he is. Because of this, Komachi doesn’t mind being “the girl” with Sakura.
But then we found out that Sakura actually wanted to hug Komachi after sex. They do it again and get all lovey-dovey. Cute, wholesome, and lewd. Nice.

The second couple is the cute one.
They’re childhood friends, and one of them is an otaku who’s a crossplayer (someone who cosplays the opposite sex). While the other guy isn’t an otaku at all but goes to conventions because he’s worried about his childhood friend will get weird attention from guys.

There’s not much to say about them except cute. The “non-otaku guy” is a tsundere and can’t say his feelings (I think he doesn’t know he likes his CF) and the otaku, while he seems oblivious, he actually gets jealous when the other is looking at another girl.
He also blurts out a few embarrassing things that only a cross-dressing boy would say to another boy he likes.
We almost have a kiss, ruined by a kid yelling about an anime goods and reminding the cross-dresser he also wanted that.

It’s a frustration that if you’re used to reading shoujo. But overall, is a cute story that left me wanting more. Too bad I doubt there will ever be.
The third couple is the lewdest one overall, but it was the worse to me.
This couple didn’t have a trap. If we can “categorize”, traps are boys who look like girls even without trying. Komachi is one. Cross-dressing boys are boys that look like girls when they dress like girls, like the second one.
But the third couple…
The president and the vice president are good friends, and a good combo (like covering for each other’s work and stuff). Everyone thinks so. And one day, they’re caught by sudden rain and go to the infirmary to get some towels. The VP says the president should undress and dry his shirt so he won’t catch a cold, but the president is being sneaky.
He ends up going behind the curtain, saying the VP shouldn’t peek. But he forgot his towel, and when the VP pulls the curtain, he finds out why the president was being sneaky; the president was wearing a bra.
I don’t read normal BL. I like stories with traps, especially with guys x traps pairing. So this wasn’t interesting to me. But the art was good, and it was the last chapter, so I finished.
After the president explains why, the VP is aroused and wants to check the bra closer. He ends up teasing the president’s nipples, who gets hard (revealing he is also wearing panties).
The president gets upset that he’s the only one embarrassed and out of nowhere decides to jack off the VP, who jacks him off. Totally normal.
The next day, the VP has no idea how to react, but when he sees the president, the president acts as if nothing had happened. Then, as he walks by, he whispers to the VP. “I’m wearing pink today.”

I didn’t like it, but I think many would enjoy it.
Overall, Senpai’s not a girl is a good and interesting manga, and the first couple awesome. Wish the author did more stories with them, but right now she’s working on her new series, another cross-dressing story. But it’s not BL. I haven’t read yet, but it seems to be shoujo.
If a group picked this up, it’d be great, we need more trap manga translated.
