This isn’t a review. It’s simply what I thought and a few comments about this manga.
I want to do this maybe once a week. I’ll read a trap manga that’s not translated and talk a bit about it.
The first manga I’ll talk about is Rojiura no Souvenir by Nemunemu
When I first got into traps, around 2014, I think, I remember searching for new series. Rojiura no Souvenir always showed up and I thought the cover looked cute and wanted to read.
Sadly, no group picked it up and this series went under the radar, forgotten by most.
Then, last year, I had the chance to buy, even though I didn’t know anything about it other than it had the gender bender genre on mangaupdate.
Now that I’m too deep in the world of trap manga, I know who NemuNemu is and when I realized that Rojiura no Souvenir, which means something like, back alley souvenir, or back street souvenir, I was excited. What would I find in a manga by NemuNemu?
You’d expect lewd time with traps, just like her doujinshis, right?
Then you’d be wrong.
I expected cutesy lewd traps. And I got that. But you know what else I got? Feel. Yeah. I got feels reading a trap manga by NemuNemu.
I’m talking feels you’d expect in the last episodes of a slice-of-life anime.
I still can’t believe there’s more development in two volumes of this manga than most 10+ light novel series or manga.
Rokiura no Souvenir is about two brothers who inherited their grandpa’s coffee house.
Since the place is struggling, the older sister, Kaho, decides to renovate the place. The brother, Yuuichi, who’s the protagonist, is against it. He knows they’ll lose the place if they don’t do anything, but he doesn’t want to destroy what his grandfather created. He doesn’t want to change.
However, he can’t resist his sister’s whims. Not even when he finds out she plans to turn the place into a maid cafe. Kaho goes ahead and hires the first maid, Mochizuki Yukata. We don’t know he’s a boy, but we find out in an ecchi, bulge shot moment. Nice.
Hm? Hmm!? Hmmm…
What happens then?
Kaho decides to turn the maid cafe into a trap maid cafe, which makes Yuuichi even more against. But his opinion doesn’t matter.
The first chapter is just to introduce the situation and the main couple, with a little ecchi and comedy moments. Not exactly what you’d expect after reading Nemunemu’s doujinshis, but not bad. It was a good start.
Then we have a little extra chapter, or chapter 1.5. And that, my friends, is too misleading. Yuuichi had a lewd dream with our cute trap, Yukata-chan, with a kiss and nipple touching.
This is what I expected
However, in chapter 2, we start to see the true colors of this manga.
While they’re still working some stuff, the trap maid cafe opens. And one of the first customers THROWS water on Yutaka-chan when he explains what a trap is and leaves the place in disgust.

How can anyone do this to someone so precious?
I was mad, but what makes things worse is that Yukata wasn’t. He simply cries and apologizes, saying it’d be better if he wasn’t there, that he was a bother to the owner and Yuuichi even though they had accepted him.
Kaho says they’re making a new place, they’re changing. And this new place is where Yutaka came to change too, so they all promise to both work hard.
That was the first moment I felt like I could destroy the world just to see that boy smiling and blushing.
In the next few chapters, a few people from his school see him cross-dressing and start bullying him. When Yuuichi shows up, instead of asking for help, Yutaka-chan says they don’t have a connection, so the bullies should focus on himself.
Yutaka-chan is too precious to this world.
But Yuuichi defends him, and thanks to Kaho, the bullies left.
Still in the first volume, we’re introduced to another character, Ayano. She’s Yuuichi’s childhood friend and has a crush on him. When have we seen that before?
But for real, she’s a girl with a complex about her height and also the fact that she doesn’t think cute things and clothes fit her, even though she likes that kind of stuff. When she sees Yuuichi and Yutaka, she gets jealous and asks to work on the trap maid cafe, even though she’s not a trap… (no stonks)
To my surprise, unlike most childhood friend anime characters you see, Ayano has her development as well.
On the last pages of volume 1, we see another “girl” who looking inside the trap maid cafe, saying it’s a nice place. And also that she’s pantyless.
On volume 2, we’re introduced to her, Mirai, who comes like a storm. A storm that fondles Ayano’s brests, checks Yutaka’s adult panties and kisses Yuuichi on the cheek. That is only a few pages.

This is how you represent a trap wearing adult panties
As you can expect, it’s a trap. One that doesn’t like to wear panties, by the way, and is not embarrassed to be showing the banana.
The story progress and Yutaka starts developing feelings for Yuuichi. When he talks to Mirai about it, Yuuichi and Ayano are listening in another room, and when Yutaka is about to say he probably likes Yuuichi, Ayano opens the door, interrupting the conversation.

The next day, Yutaka doesn’t show up because of a fever. Ayano is upset because she thinks it’s her fault but is nervous to visit him. Mirai notices and decides to go, bringing/dragging Ayano to let her talk to Yukata.
In the meantime, we find out Yutaka liked a boy once, but when he confessed, his friend said it’s gross and asked to not come closer to him. Yutaka was heartbroken and because of that experience, he’s afraid to say what he feels to Yuuichi.
Despite also harboring feelings for Yuuichi, Ayano encourages him. She says Yuuichi is taking Yutaka’s feelings seriously and won’t hate him because he’s a boy.
After that, she cries and Mirai comforts her. That’s might be the beginning of new love, but since the manga is short, we don’t get to see much.
On another note, besides Ayano’s complex, she feels she’s not “useful” to the cafe, but when she gets a compliment from a master, she becomes a bit more cheerful. She even accepts Mirai’s invitation to buy cute clothes. She too is trying to change.
Coming back to the main couple, we got a few more development between them, and our trap waifu realizes he truly likes Yuuichi, and even though he still fears being rejected, he wants to cherish his feeling and confess.

He does it and when Yuuichi is about to reply, everyone gets in the way. They had plans to go to the temple together on their day off. A few scenes later, Yuuichi says he also likes Yutaka and that gender doesn’t matter.
Then we got a few scenes where Yutaka’s first crush sees him happy (I think it’s him. The hairstyle was the same). And also the customer who threw water on Yukata apologizing for what he did.
Then we got Yuuichi thinking that, even though change is difficult, that might be painful, and that even though his grandfather’s cafe isn’t the same, it was still an important place where he met wonderful people, a place where people visit and return with a good feeling (a souvenir, we could say)
The last page is him showing up at Yutaka’s door with flowers.

The message of this manga is change. Even if we don’t want, things will change, and we can struggle against it, or try to make the best of the situation. With luck, we can find something wonderful in the process.
It’s a good story with cute moments, ecchi moments, with feels, and good characters. We need more stories like this. (A bit more of ecchi would be nice XD. The only kiss we got was in a dream. At least it was a great kiss)
I wish someone translates this because it’s a good trap manga and I recommend.
PS: Nemunemu is a woman, but she jokes about drawing wearing a maid uniform and in a sailor uniform. It’s a joke, but if she was a guy, it’d be much, much more interesting, don’t you agree?
If you want more texts like this, please tell me. I do have a good number of trap manga that hasn’t been translated and I wanna talk about them
